Luxury cruise ship brings thousands of tourists to Vietnam
VOV.VN -Spectrum of the Seas, a luxury ship belonging to United States-based cruise liner Royal Caribbean International, docked at Phu My port in the coastal southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province on May 27, carrying on board 5,718 tourists.
The ship, which is mainly carrying British, Australian, Hong Kong, and Chinese nationals, is currently on a nine-day voyage having initially departed from Singapore. The cruise will end in Shanghai, China, on June 3.
According to Saigontourist, the nation’s leading tour operator, visitors enjoyed sightseeing tours at attractions in Ho Chi Minh City and the Cu Chi tunnels. The next day, the cruise arrived in Nha Trang where guests visited Thap Ba Ponagar, Long Son pagoda, Vinpearl Land Amusement Park, shopped at Dam market, and bathed in the mud.
The luxury cruise liner is scheduled to leave Nha Trang at 18:00 on May 28 and will continue sailing towards Hong Kong.
Built by German shipbuilding company Meyer Werft at a total cost of US$940 million, Spectrum of the Seas is 347 metres long and 63 meters high.
The 18-storey ship is widely considered one of the world’s most modern ships and weighs approximately 169,370 tons.
In May, Saigontourist also welcomed two cruise ships, including World Dream, and Europa. In total, the two liners brought 13,718 tourists and crew members to Vietnam, who enjoyed sightseeing tours of Ho Chi Minh city, Danang, Ha Long Bay, and Nha Trang.
