Lonely Planet reveals four amazing secret destinations in Vietnam

VOV.VN - World-renowned travel guide Lonely Planet published an article revealing four lesser-known destinations throughout the nation where locals like to travel.

In the article, the travel website shared that thanks to its beaches, historic sites, mountain hikes, and irresistible food, the nation draws travelers from all over the world.

However, there are four amazing secret destinations in the country which foreign visitors should not miss out on during their travels.

Chasing waterfalls and coffee in Buon Ma Thuot city in the Central Highland province of Dak Lak

“If you love coffee, this is your paradise. Buon Ma Thuot, tucked away in the highlands of Central Vietnam, is famous for its coffee culture,” says Lonely Planet.

It noted that visitors can enjoy guided tours of lush coffee plantations, taking in the aroma of freshly roasted beans or even learning how to make their own cup of joe in the Vietnamese style.

Yet the wonders of Buon Ma Thuot extend far beyond its fantastic coffee culture.

According to the website, mystical waterfalls like Dray Nur and Dray Sap evoke vibes of fairy tales.

It also suggested that if visitors want to truly immerse themselves in the local culture, then a visit to Lak Lake is a must.

This serene oasis is surrounded by charming villages and is inhabited by the welcoming M’Nong ethnic group who reside in vibrant settlements of rattan and wooden stilt houses located on the water’s edge.

Chau Doc - the kingdom of fish sauce

According to information provided by the travel outlet, in addition to Mekong Delta cruises, visitors should visit the Chau Doc Floating Market, which promises unique culinary adventures thanks to the incredible variety of fish harvested from the river.

“Don’t miss out on mắm (fermented seafood), and the famously diverse range of fish sauces, made from such different types of fish as snakehead, catfish and anchovy,” it stressed.

It also recommended Bún mắm (fish sauce noodle) and Lẩu mắm (fish sauce hot pot), which offers a mouth-tingling combination of shrimp, fish, meat, and over 20 different types of vegetables and herbs.

Another must-visit destination in the region is the floating Tra Su Cajuput Forest, with the site being a conservation area and one of the nation’s most beautiful places.

The best time to visit this unique ecosystem is during and immediately after the monsoon season, which runs from June until November.

Lang Co - a treasure trove of natural wonders in central Vietnam

According to Lonely Planet, Lang Co can be found far away from the country’s bustling tourist spots and is a hidden gem that takes pride in its rich traditions, warm hospitality, and diverse landscapes.

It is also home to pristine fishing villages, national parks, white-sand beaches, and turquoise bays.

Bach Ma National Park is an absolute treasure trove of natural wonders that boasts awe-inspiring views, towering waterfalls measuring nearly 300m (984ft) in height, and a remarkable array of flora and fauna.

The ideal time to visit Lang Co region is from March to July, when sunny weather predominates with minimal rainfall.
