Localities attract large numbers of holidaymakers during National Day break
VOV.VN - Localities across the country witnessed significant increases in the number of holidaymakers during the recent four-day National Day break from August 31 to September 3.
On September 3, Hanoi’s Department of Tourism announced that the capital received 672,900 tourists during the four-day holiday period, rising by 5% year on year and generating more than VND2 trillion in revenue, up 8.3%.
Of the total, 58,900 were foreign visitors, up 35.8% from the same period last year. Most of them came from India, the Republic of Korea, China, and Japan.
Meanwhile, the number of domestic visitors to Hanoi reached 614,000, up 3.6% year on year.
The country’s second-longest public holiday of the year has helped to boost tourism development in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, which in turn attracted around 196,500 arrivals on this occasion, earning VND606 billion in revenue.
In particular, the resort town of Sa Pa, which plays host to the Sa Pa Autumn Festival as part of National Day celebrations, welcomed 122,770 arrivals, marking an increase of 33.2%.
Meanwhile, the number of visitors to the central province of Thanh Hoa stood at 395,700 in the reviewed period, up 20.4% from 2023.
Its tourism revenue reached VND870.5 billion, rising by 31.3% against the same period from last year.
Ho Chi Minh City, the most populous locality in Vietnam, welcomed 980,000 visitors during this year's National Day holiday, representing an increase of 2% compared to the same period last year.
Tourism services brought back nearly VND3 trillion in revenue to the city’s coffers, up 1.7% year on year.
Furthermore, the southcentral coastal province of Khanh Hoa’s Department of Tourism estimated that more than 175,200 tourists arrived in the locality during the four-day holiday, up 14.6%. Revenue from tourism services stood at VND756.3 billion, showing an increase of 14.2%.
