Local airlines to reschedule flights due to impending typhoon
VOV.VN - Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Bamboo Airways, and Pacific Airlines have announced that flights on October 27 have been rescheduled due to concerns over passenger safety with typhoon Molave poised to make landfall in central Vietnam.
A total of nine Vietnam Airlines flights travelling to and from Phu Bai in Thua Thien-Hue province, Da Nang, and Chu Lai in Quang Nam province have been adjusted. In addition, flights from Tuy Hoa, Gia Lai, Buon Me Thuot, Quy Nhon, Da Lat, and Khanh Hoa provinces will be taken off from 45 minutes to five hours and 35 minutes earlier than the scheduled time in an effort to ensure that all flights land before 18:00 p.m.
Furthermore, low-cost airlines VietJet Air, Bamboo Airways, and Pacific Airlines have also moved to reschedule flights to the central region.
As a means of dealing with the situation, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) have requested that relevant agencies stay on duty around the clock, whilst offering updates on the weather situation in the area, in order to provide information and timely warnings to passengers.
Moreover, the CAAV have also moved to implement measures aimed at preventing flooding in airports, whilst protecting structures, vehicles and equipment, therefore limiting the damage caused by the rain and stormy conditions.
According to the National Centre of Hydro-meteorological and Forecasting (NCHF), between the evening of October 27 and October 29 central localities from Thua Thien Hue to Phu Yen will be hit by downpours, with rainfall of 200 mm to 400 mm. Elsewhere, rainfall will reach between 100 mm and 200 mm in the North-Central Highlands.
