Last Lao tourists visit Phu Quoc with vaccine passports
VOV.VN - Vina Phu Quoc Travel Co. Ltd on March 4 welcomed 12 Lao passengers flying private jet to Phu Quoc island city.
They are set to stay on Phu Quoc island in Kien Giang province until March 7.
This marks the third group of Lao billionaires to visit Phu Quoc island city organised by Vina Phu Quoc, and this is the last group of tourists with vaccine passports visiting Vietnam under a pilot programme to welcome back foreign visitors.
In late 2021 the company welcomed three similar groups of Lao billionaires comprising 50 individuals.
Bui Quoc Thai, director of the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, said the department has proposed that local authorities add more pick-up service providers after the vaccine passport pilot programme ends.
Currently, the local Department of Tourism is considering plans to ensure the safety and effectiveness of protection measures beyond March 15 when Vietnam resumes international tourism.
February alone saw Phu Quoc island city welcome over 496,000 arrivals, including 10,000 foreign visitors, raking in a total income of VND525 billion.
Over the past two months the city received approximately 742,000 arrivals consisting of 19,000 international tourists.
