Kien Giang welcomes 6 million tourists in 2017
VOV.VN - The southern coastal province of Kien Giang welcomed more than 6 million tourists in 2017, including more than 368,000 foreign visitors, according to the provincial department of tourism.
Phu Quoc Island, Ha Tien, Nam Du Islands, and Ba Lua are the most popular destinations in Kien Giang. Phu Quoc Island performed particularly well in tourism, attracting nearly 1 million visitors, an increase of over 35.17% compared to 2016’s figure.
According to many tourism experts, the province’s hospitality sector has improved the quality of its service in recent years to meet tourists’ increasing demands for travel with promotional activities, traditional festivals, and beauty pageant contests.
The province aims to attract 650,000 – 700,000 foreign arrivals and 8.4 million domestic tourists by 2020 to generate an estimated tourism revenue of US$808 million, creating 14,000 jobs in the travel industry.
