Khanh Hoa welcomes first direct flight from Moscow
VOV.VN - Vietjet has launched its maiden direct flight from Moscow to Vietnam’s south-central coastal province of Khanh Hoa, expanding direct connectivity to a surging Russian tourist market in the locality.
Khanh Hoa’s Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, in coordination with Anex Vietnam and Vietjet, welcomed the flight on September 23. Flight VJ5074, carrying 370 passengers, departed from Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow at 0:25 a.m. and landed at Cam Ranh International Airport at 3:20 p.m. the same day.
The aircraft was greeted with a water salute upon arrival, followed by a welcoming ceremony featuring traditional lion dances at the terminal.
According to Anex Vietnam, Vietjet is the first Vietnamese carrier to operate a direct route between Moscow and Khanh Hoa, whereas previous services were primarily handled by Russian airlines.
The route will initially operate three flights per week, with frequency expected to rise to five flights weekly starting in early 2027. With this addition, Anex Vietnam's network connecting Russia and Vietnam will expand to 28 flights per week.
The new air link coincides with a strong recovery of Russian visitors to Khanh Hoa. During the eight month period of 2026, the province welcomed over 851,000 Russian travelers, more than tripling year-on-year.
Russian tourists predominantly stay at hotels and resorts in the Bai Dai and Nha Trang areas, favoring island tours, eco-tourism, and recreational spots such as VinWonders Nha Trang. The increased direct transport capacity gives Khanh Hoa better access to the Russian market, enabling travel agencies to tailor tour packages to Russian tourists' demands.
