VOV.VN - The Indian Times recently published an article hailing the beauty of the rice terraces of Sa Pa in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai.
The media outlet noted that the rice terraces of Sa Pa are a good reason to visit Vietnam.
According to the Indian Times, Sa Pa is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, including terraced rice fields, lush valleys, and rugged mountain peaks.
The newspaper noted that the rice terraces in Sa Pa are world famous due to their stunningly unique design.
“Call it ingenuity or simply coincidence, these rice terraces are a thing of beauty. Here’s why – the locals have sculpted the mountainside into a series of stepped terraces, creating a visually stunning landscape. These terraces look different with each passing season,” it explained.
The beauty of the rice terraces varies throughout the year, a factor which makes them a year-long yet changing attraction. According to information given by the newspaper, in the spring, the terraces are filled with water which creates a mirror-like effect that reflects the sky and surrounding scenery. Meanwhile, the summer sees the fields turn lush green as the rice plants grow, whilst in the fall, the terraces transform into a golden carpet as the rice ripens, thereby providing a stunning sight for visitors to enjoy.
Most notably, in the winter the terraces sometimes get covered in a layer of snow which creates a picturesque winter landscape.
The Indian Times also revealed that these rice terraces have been sculpted into a series of stepped terraces which creates a visually stunning landscape and are a way for the ethnic minority communities to stay connected to their roots.
“The combination of breathtaking landscapes, cultural heritage, and the unique charm of Sa Pa town makes it an iconic destination for travelers visiting Vietnam,” it concluded.
