Hon Ba Island: A fascinating place to visit at low tide

(VOV) - A tour of Hon Ba Island, site of an old French fort that is now a temple near Vung Tau City in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, is an awesome experience say tourists.

The island is only accessible at low tide when a rock and coral causeway is exposed, so wear good shoes or sandals, said one tourist. |

Or with a steady gait one could walk the sandbar alongside the causeway. |

He said low tide only lasts four hours and then the only way back to the mainland is by boat. |

On lunar full moons of the seventh and tenth month low tide occurs at night and thousands flock to the island to burn incense and pray, said one local resident. |

They also make offerings at the Hon Ba Temple and then quickly return to shore before the road is submerged below the blue waters of the East Sea. |
