Hon Ba Island: A fascinating place to visit at low tide

(VOV) - A tour of Hon Ba Island, site of an old French fort that is now a temple near Vung Tau City in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, is an awesome experience say tourists.

The island is only accessible at low tide when a rock and coral causeway is exposed, so wear good shoes or sandals, said one tourist.

Or with a steady gait one could walk the sandbar alongside the causeway.

He said low tide only lasts four hours and then the only way back to the mainland is by boat.

On lunar full moons of the seventh and tenth month low tide occurs at night and thousands flock to the island to burn incense and pray, said one local resident.

They also make offerings at the Hon Ba Temple and then quickly return to shore before the road is submerged below the blue waters of the East Sea.
