Hoi An to pilot electric vehicles early next year

The government of Quang Nam Province will implement a pilot plan to use 50 electric vehicles for transporting tourists in the ancient town of Hoi An from the beginning of 2017.

The vehicles will run on a daily basis from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. with three fixed routes from

Tan An Ward’s coach station to three different venues, including Hoi An ancient town, An Bang Beach and Cua Dai Beach. Besides, tourists can also get on such vehicles to visit Thanh Ha ceramic village and Tra Que vegetable village.

Many cities and provinces across the country, including Hanoi, Khanh Hoa, Lao Cai, Danang, Thua Thien-Hue and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, have launched environmentally-friendly vehicles, aiming at minimizing noise and better serving tourists.

Earlier, the central Government has approved a plan to launch electricity-powered vehicles in some limited areas of Hoi An Ancient Town of Quang Nam Province and Phu Quoc Island off Kien Giang Province.
