HCM City’s tourism revenue surges, on track to hit yearly target
VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City’s total tourism revenue in the first seven months of 2025 exceeded VND140.3 trillion, marking a nearly 30% increase over the same period last year and fulfilling 54% of the yearly plan, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.
The past seven months saw the city received more than 21.7 million domestic holidaymakers, representing a year-on-year rise of 8.2% and meeting 48.3% of the yearly plan.
In July alone, the city welcomed around 696,000 international tourists and 3.38 million domestic visitors, indicating strong appeal during the summer peak season.
Alongside the steady recovery in visitor numbers, the city actively implemented tourism development strategies aligned with the national spatial tourism framework. A key highlight was a dialogue conference between tourism businesses and local authorities, which attracted participation from over 100 companies.
The city also focused on developing tailored travel products for families, students, and youth groups, while boosting stimulus programmes and enhancing signature tourism offerings such as culinary tours, medical tourism, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism. New routes and destinations are being surveyed and designed.
Promotional efforts were ramped up through multiple channels, including high-profile events like tourism promotion at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, public check-in photo spots, the third Ho Chi Minh City River Festival, the eighth Ho Chi Minh City Techcombank International Marathon, alongside promotional roadshows in the United States and Singapore.
The Department of Tourism also strengthened state management efforts by issuing permits, handling complaints, ensuring tourism safety, and evaluating digital transformation progress to develop a sustainable, professional, and modern tourism industry.
In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City aims to welcome 8.5 million international visitors, 45 million domestic tourists, and generate around VND260 trillion in tourism revenue.
