HCM City greets first foreign and local tourists of the New Year

VOV.VN - A welcoming ceremony was held for the first foreign and local tourists entering HCM City in the New Year on the morning of January 1, 2019.

HCM City welcomes first visitors on New Year Day
The ceremony was jointly held by the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines along with low-cost airline Vietjet Air at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

The aims of the event were to promote the city as a friendly and hospitable vacation destination for tourists. The event also highlighted the range of activities on offer for both local and foreign visitors to HCM City this year.

The first foreign holidaymakers of the year arrived from Frankfurt on Vietnam Airlines’ flight VN30 whilst the first local visitors landed on Vietjet’s flight VJ633. Both flights were treated to traditional art performances and received gifts including tours of HCM City.

An economy class plane ticket was presented to the first international and local visitor by Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air respectively.

Hue city receives first tourists on New Year Day
Online travel agency Tugo was also offering tours to tourist attractions in HCM City to the first 12 visitors. The offer is part of the tourism stimulus program to welcome the 320th anniversary of Saigon-Cho Lon-Gia Dinh-HCM City.

During 2019, HCM City’s tourism sector aims to welcome 8.5 million international tourists and over 32 million local visitors, an increase of 14% and 13% respectively from last year.

Meanwhile, in Hue city, a greeting ceremony was held at Phu Bai international airport for more than 180 visitors on Vietnam Airlines’ flight VN1543 from Hanoi to Hue.
