Hanoi tourism hits record 30 million arrivals in ten months

VOV.VN - Hanoi welcomed 30.36 million tourists over the ten-month period of 2026, up 6.8% year-on-year, as a result of an increase in international arrivals, according to the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Foreign visitors to the capital reached 7.57 million, representing a 21.4% increase over the same period in 2025, with 5.34 million choosing overnight stays. Total tourism revenue reached an estimated VND125.24 trillion (US$5.01 billion), up 13% year-on-year, creating momentum for the sector in the final months of the year.

In November and December, the capital’s tourism sector will step up promotional activities to support the city’s double-digit GRDP growth target. These programs will focus on cultural and heritage tourism, night tours, culinary experiences, and end-of-year festivals.

Featured heritage and cultural tours include "Green Retreat in the Heart of Culture" at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, pilgrimage itineraries to Huong (Perfume) Pagoda, and tours to the Thang Long Tu Tran (Four Sacred Temples). Nighttime and cultural offerings include The Quintessence of Tonkin live show at the Tuan Chau-Hanoi Tourist Area, Thang Long Water Puppetry, Old Quarter exploration tours, and night tours at the Hoa Lo Prison Relic.

The city will also host several major cultural and tourism events through the end of the year, including the 5th Hanoi Creative Design Festival from November 11 to 28, the Hanoi Ao Dai Tourism Festival 2026 at the Hanoi Museum, and a dedicated culture, sports, and tourism space at the 8th Hanoi International Film Festival from November 27 to December 2.

In addition to municipal events, hotels across Hanoi are launching end-of-year promotional packages, Christmas and New Year celebrations, and discounted lodging and dining services.

The city currently has around 140 tourist sites and attractions in operation, 59 of which are officially recognized by the municipal People's Committee.

The Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is directing local management units to intensify state management, enhance service quality, and develop new tourism products linked to the capital's cultural, historical, craft village, and ecological assets, prioritizing visitor satisfaction and safety.
