Hanoi ranks among world’s top 13 cities for unforgettable cuisine
VOV.VN - Hanoi has been ranked 13th on TripAdvisor’s list of the world’s best cities for “unbelievable meals”, recognizing its vibrant street food scene and refined local flavors.
According to the world’s largest travel guidance platform, the list features destinations that offer everything from bustling market stalls to “inventive dishes that are exclusive to Michelin-starred restaurants”. These cities, it noted, are “filled full of culinary adventures that are well worth travelling for.”
TripAdvisor praised Hanoi for its “subtle and delicate” cuisine that highlights “fresh herbs, light broths, and simple seasonings” to showcase local ingredients. For the best street food, it recommends heading to the city’s lively Old Quarter and French Quarter.
The travel platform described phở (Vietnamese noodle soup) as the city’s signature dish, calling it “arguably Vietnam’s most famous dish: a flavorful broth often served with thinly sliced rare beef, brisket, tripe, and meatballs. Don’t forget to top your bowl off with some bean sprouts, fresh chili, mint, and lime.”
It also highlighted cà phê trứng (egg coffee) as Hanoi’s underrated must-try, noting that “Vietnam is the second-largest coffee producer globally and Cà Phê Trứng represents a specialty in Hanoi, made by whipping egg yolks with sugar and condensed milk.”
“Whether served hot or cold, its rich, creamy texture offers a twist to the more familiar Vietnamese coffee,” it added.
