Hanoi, European travel operators work to promote tourism

VOV.VN - The Hanoi Department of Tourism in coordination with national-flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on October 10 held a meeting with representatives of 22 travel companies from 11 different European nations to discuss how to collaborate more in the future.

This is part of range of activities undertaken by delegates of travel companies from European countries during their fact-finding tour of Vietnam between 5th and 10th of October, during which Vietnamese and European travel businesses promoted their products as the way of further stepping up tourism cooperation

At the meeting, Director of the Hanoi municipal Tourism Department Tran Duc Hai presented the city’s tourism potential and outlined its strengths with a diversified heritage system, special culinary culture, and ecotourism advantages along with improved tourism infrastructure.

Hanoi tourism has received positive evaluations from the world’s most reputable tourism websites, travel shows and press, as demonstrated by its nomination as one of 17 candidates for “the world's leading city destination” in 2018 by World Travel Awards.

During the first nine months of this year, the capital city received 4.28 million foreign visitors, up 20% over a year earlier, including more than 754,100 European tourists, up 34% against the same period last year..

The Hanoi Tourism Department leader assured the best possible conditions for European travel agents, media agencies and visitors coming to Hanoi in expectation of stronger connections and regular tourist exchanges between the two sides.

After their trip to Hanoi, European travel businesses spoke highly of the city’s tourism advantages, which they regarded as contributory factors to drawing more visitors to Hanoi. Despite a year-on-year rise of European tourists arriving to the city, European travel businesses will continue to pour more investments into Hanoi and Vietnam.

During their trip, European businesses experienced a full range of tourist attractions and tourism products in Hanoi and the surrounding areas, including Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam Temple of Literature, Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple, Hanoi Old Quarters, Thang Long Royal Palace, Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace, Duong Lam ancient village, Van Phuc silk village, Huong Son landscape complex and Ha Long Bay.
