Foreign media outlines reasons to live in Vietnam

VOV.VN - Vietnam is a fantastic country to visit and is one of the most low-cost options in the world, therefore it’s no surprise that there is a growing expat community living locally, reported online website Travel2next.

According to Travel2next, which provides inspiration and information about world travel, there are plenty of unique sites for expats to visit and explore in Vietnam where the lifestyle is quite affordable.

Bui Vien Walking Street in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi’s Old Quarter and Ba Dinh district, along with My An Beach and Bach Dang District in Da Nang, are all popular sites for expats residing in Vietnam.

Furthermore, the cost of living is another reason that expats choose to stay in Vietnam. In Hanoi capital for instance, rent can be pretty low at around US$300 per month but it may be up to US$1,000 per month depending on one’s needs. Elsewhere, one’s food budget can be slightly less, starting at around US$150 per month.

The expenditure in Da Nang is rather lower compared to Hanoi with rent at US$200 per month. Concerning food, there are so many fantastic options of both local and international cuisine, so this can range between US$100 and US$200 per month.

Ho Chi Minh City has the highest prices for rent, starting at around US$400 and going up to US$2,000 per month. Travelers can survive on a budget of around US$200 per month for living costs.

The enforcement of the new e-visa policy, effective on August 15, 2023, is the third reason in attracting more foreign tourists. A foreign traveler now can apply for a 90-day visit instead of a 30-day visa in the past.

in addition, travelers can claim a five year spousal visa after fulfilling requirements, but guests still have to leave the country once every six months, although they can stay longer if a reason is approved by the Government, the article noted.

One more reason for living in Vietnam is that there are a lot of expat jobs available. Experts can choose to teach English, work in the information technology industry, or own a business in Vietnam.

A good start is to learn Vietnamese that can really help with job prospects, Travel2next suggested.

The final reason for living in Vietnam is that the country boasts a fantastic medical system. There are numerous high-quality clinics and hospitals in all cities that provide expats with most of their medical needs, the website added.
