Da Nang to host 143,000 tourists

The central city of Da Nang will host 143,000 tourists, including 82,000 foreigners, visiting during the Christmas and New Year vacation from December 24 through January 2.

The city’s tourism authority said 65,000 tourists have already booked rooms at hotels and resorts to explore the city’s landmarks.

It said 61,000 tourists will take 357 flights from Australia, the US, Europe, Japan, China and the Republic of Korea to the city during the Christmas season.

Five-star hotels and resorts including Furama, Fusion Maia, Pullman, One Opera and Novotel also host buffets and New Year’s eve parties for local and foreign tourists staying in the city during the holiday week.

Budget airline VietJet Air plans to carry 180 tourists on the Incheon-Da Nang flight to the city on the first day of the New Year, while cruise MSC Lirica will bring 2,000 tourists to dock at Tien Sa port on January 1.

The national flagship carrier Vietnam Airlines has offered promotional tickets of 29 USD for local tourists to destinations in the Southeast Asia and East Asia, while flights to Europe, Australia and the US are just 249 USD.

The authority said the year of 2018 would see increasing flights from Incheon, Busan, Deagu of the Republic of Korea, Hongkong and Osaka as budget airlines began launching their direct flights in 2016.
