Da Nang hosts large-scale festivals to reboot tourism
VOV.VN - The central coastal city of Da Nang has launched a series of festive events this year in an effort to warm up the tourism market after a two-year hiatus caused by COVID-19.
Among these activities is the Da Nang street carnival which officially kicked off on March 26, bringing together approximately 300 dancers and artists from different art troupes.
Residents and tourists have the opportunity to enjoy the bustling atmosphere of various art shows at night, all of which will be held on the banks of the Han River throughout the year.
Da Nang recently held a hot air balloon festival on March 27 to mark the resumption of international tourism activities.
Truong Thi Hong Hanh, director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, said the city has worked out stimulus tourism programmes with four other localities – Quang Nam, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Tri, and Quang Binh, to connect with other destinations such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh, in order to attract more tourists.
At present, between 50% and 70% of accommodation facilities in Da Nang have now reopened, while all travel firms in the city are expected to resume operation in June.
The city is also preparing to launch a number of new tourism products by enhancing the application of technologies and digital transformation, along with arranging nightlife activities at a number of locations.
Most notably, the city will focus on promoting key international markets, organising large-scale festivals, and elevating the city's image at regional and international events such as the Asia Route Development Forum 2022, the IRONMAN Vietnam contest in May, a boat race in June, and an Asian golf tournament in September.
Le Trung Chinh, chairman of the Da Nang administration, said through a wide range of attractive sports and cultural events, Da Nang will be able to revive its tourism industry this year to earn the title of 'Asia's Leading Festival & Event Destination'.
