In order to achieve the ambitious goal, the municipal authorities will focus on measures to turn Da Nang into an interesting and prestigious tourist destination.

Those measures include the creation and promotion of high-class tourism products, ensuring security and order, and keeping the city clean.

Tran Chi Cuong, Deputy Director of the department, said promotional programmes to major markets like China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Southeast Asian countries, Europe and North America will be carried out at travel fairs.

Leaflets, books, films and video clips on the city’s tourism will be produced as well to introduced on local and international channels, Cuong said.

The city also boosts the effectiveness of the tourism information centres and representative offices in foreign cities, making use of them to call for investment and cooperation.

According to the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the city has welcomed over one million tourists since the beginning of this year, an increase of 19.6% and equal to 20.2% of the yearly plan.

Of which, the arrival of international tourists accounted for 405,000, up 30.1%.

The total revenue was VND3,000 billion (US$130 million), up 17.5% the same period last year.
