Da Nang among top 11 best places to go in Asia next year
VOV.VN - Da Nang, a tourist city in central Vietnam, has been named among the top 11 best places to go in Asia for 2024, by travel magazine CnTraveller of the United States.
Da Nang ranked second on the list, just behind Bangkok of Thailand.
According to the magazine, located amid dozens of UNESCO-recognised sites in the country’s heartland, including the ancient port city of Hoi An and the former imperial capital city of Hue, Da Nang is one of Asia’s big post-COVID success stories. It has seen 2023 international arrivals exceed pre-pandemic figures, thanks in part to new flight routes which make the City of Bridges easier to access than ever.
This year, Vietnam Airlines reopened its popular Da Nang - Tokyo route, whilst China Airlines of Taiwan (China) started direct flights from Taipei to Da Nang. In addition, several Southeast Asian budget airlines also launched flights to the central coastal city, with plenty more in the making.
“Every June, more than 150 daily flights deliver tourists eager to witness the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival,” the magazine added.
CnTraveller revealed that Son Tra Peninsula, situated just 20 minutes from the city centre, is another tourist attraction which is home to a 17-story, 220-foot statue of Lady Buddha, as well as endangered red-shanked douc langurs living in the peninsula’s nature reserve.
It also suggested that when visiting the central city, visitors should try local delicacies like Mì Quảng, the official noodle soup of the region, and Bánh Xèo turmeric crepes.
Rounding off the list of top 11 best places to go in Asia next year is Kathmandu Valley of Nepal, Kobe of Japan, Kochi of India, Mongolia, Ras Al Khaimah of the UAE, the Red Sea of Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the Silk Road of Uzbekistan, and south and central Sri Lanka.
