Da Lat city packed with visitors celebrating Lunar New Year holiday
VOV.VN - Situated in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, Da Lat city welcomed approximately 70,000 tourists during the first three official days of the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet) from February 1-3.
Le Anh Kiet, head of the Da Lat Culture and Information Department, stated that the total number of tourists visiting the city reached 66,900, including 1,700 foreigners, marking a rise of 139% compared to the same period from last year.
Kiet added that the majority of tourists came from Ho Chi Minh City, southwest provinces, Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, Da Nang, or Hanoi.
According to Kiet, local hotels were fully booked, while other lodging houses or villas were booked with an average occupancy rate of 80%.
He predicted that Da Lat would see a sharp increase in the number of holidaymakers during the nine-day holiday this year.
Situated on a plateau which stands 1,500 metres above sea level, the city boasts a refreshingly-cool climate, while other cities throughout the country can be very hot and humid, especially during summer.
Da Lat is famous for its wide variety of flowers, vegetables, and fruit which come from its surrounding farmlands, as well as countless nature sites. It is also renowned for its beautiful landscape, evergreen forests, and ethnic minority inhabited villages.
