Con Dao to welcome first tourists on October 15

VOV.VN - Con Dao island district in the southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau will pilot a scheme to welcome back local tourists via charter flights.

Charter flights are set to bring guests back from Ho Chi Minh City to the island district, a tourist destination in the south, on October 15 and 16 after a period of suspension due to COVID-19.

This will see accommodation establishments run self-contained services in Xuyen Moc and Con Dao districts, including Ho Tram Strip, Melia Ho Tram, Binh Chau Hot Springs, and Six Senses Con Dao resort, all of which have been designated to pilot receiving visitors and operating at 50% of their capacity.

A representative of Six Senses Con Dao resort revealed that the site has fully co-operated with airlines as it strives to launch charter flights for a seven-night tour package.

Though the accommodation fees and round-trip airfare are as high as VND15 million per night for two guests and VND8.5 million per person, respectively, customers have already confirmed their bookings.

According to the seven-day itinerary, tourists will be able to visit organic vegetable growing areas, experience yoga and meditation, explore local beaches, and release turtles into the sea.

Travelers will undergo rapid COVID-19 testing at the resort every three or six days. Three days ahead of boarding the plane to Con Dao, visitors must have a negative PCR test result for SARS-CoV-2, according a representative of Six Senses Con Dao resort.

At present, Six Senses Con Dao will only receive guests who have been injected with two full doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

During the course of the trip, visitors are required not to leave the premises of the accommodation facilities, whilst abiding by pandemic prevention regulations set by the hotel and the province.

Along with the pilot scheme, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province is also promoting virtual tourism promotion activities. The move will see e-commerce tourism platforms and online tourism fairs this year attract thousands of businesses and localities from across the province to introduce their tourism products and services.
