Central Vietnam sees surge in tourists during holiday
Many cities and provinces in the central region such as Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa and Danang saw a strong surge in tourists during the four-day national holiday of Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labor Day (May 1).
Despite rains during the first two days of the holiday, which ends today, Khanh Hoa Province has been packed with travelers. The province has received 275,500 tourists over the past four days, skyrocketing 119.3% year-on-year. Hotels in the central coastal province saw room occupancy reach over 87% during the holiday.
Tourist arrivals and domestic and international flights soared during the holiday, showing promising signs for the province’s tourism, said Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, director of the Khanh Hoa Province Tourism Department.
Phu Yen Province has received nearly 30,000 travelers from HCM City, Hanoi, Danang, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa and some Central Highland provinces, up 21% year-on-year.
During the holiday, the province’s tourism revenue has amounted to over VND38 billion, increasing by 25% against the same period last year.
In Binh Dinh, 192,000 tourists have come there during the holiday, soaring 92% year-on-year. Most seaside three- to five-star hotels have been full. The province has earned VND215 billion from tourism after the holiday.
Since April 29, over 135 flights departing from HCM City, Hanoi and Haiphong City have landed at the Phu Cat airport.
Thousands of tourists have thronged numerous tourist sites in the province such as Ky Co, Eo Gio, Hon Kho, Trung Luong and Ham Ho, the local media reported.
Data from the Quang Ngai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism indicated that the province has welcomed some 64,000 tourists, and reported VND52 billion in tourism revenue, climbing 49% year-on-year.
After the tough fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, Danang City is still one of the country’s most attractive travel destinations, welcoming over 254,000 visitors, including 7,400 foreigners, during the four-day holiday, a year-on-year increase of over three-fold.
Various festivals and tourism events have been organized by the city, including the Rap Show, a boat race, an art kite-flying festival and a beer festival.
The ancient town of Hoi An in Quang Nam Province has received some 10,000 tourists each day during the holiday. Many tourist sites, tourism services and products and specialties have lured visitors.
Over the past year, many cities and provinces in the central region, such as Danang, Quang Nam, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh, have strengthened their cooperation to create new tourism products and tours, making them more attractive. In addition, these localities have launched numerous tourism events, festivals and tourism promotion programs to help tourism bounce back after the pandemic.
