Central provinces to offer new tourist products after fish deaths

The central coastal provinces are urged to design new tourist products in the wake of the unusual fish deaths along their beaches in early april that impacted their tourism activities.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) will help with crafting ecological and MICE travel products, said its Deputy Director General Ngo Hoai Chung, adding that the government and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism should lend a helping hand to regional tourism operators at this time.

The VNAT also directed relevant units to choose the central region as a venue for major events, conferences and seminars, contributing to increasing tourist arrivals in the region.

It has also organised fact-finding trips to affected localities to devise appropriate solutions as well as called on domestic firms to assist local firms.

As of May 7, the regional tourism sector lost nearly VND200 billion (US$9 million).
