Binh Thuan eyes more Korean tourists

A business networking event took place in Phan Thiet city on March 19, bringing together nearly 100 representatives of agencies, tourism enterprises, and media organisations from the south-central province of Binh Thuan and the Republic of Korea (RoK).

It is expected to not only help increase the number of Korean tourists to Binh Thuan, but also open up opportunities for cooperation in investment, developing high-end tourism services, as well as promoting destinations more effectively.

Participants exchanged insights and introduced RoK tourism potential and products, as well as Binh Thuan’s unique strengths, natural and cultural heritage, and tourism offerings.

As one of Vietnam’s premier tourist destinations, Binh Thuan is steadily solidifying its position on the international tourism map. In addition to its stunning natural landscape, a 192-kilometre coastline, and a mild year-round climate, the province boasts numerous renowned attractions and cultural heritage sites, including the White Sand Dunes (Doi Cat Bay), Bau Trang (White Lake), Ke Ga Cape, Po Sah Inu Cham Tower, and Duc Thanh School relic site. Furthermore, it is home to 35 ethnic groups that boast vibrant traditional festivals, craft villages, and unique cuisine.

In his remarks, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh emphasised that besides high-end tourism offerings such as golf, luxury beach resorts, water sports, and off-road adventure tourism, Binh Thuan is prioritising sustainable tourism.

The province aims to integrate tourism development with the preservation and promotion of natural resources and environmental protection, he said, adding that cultural tourism initiatives will be enhanced through festivals, community experiences, and traditional craft villages. Binh Thuan is also advancing ecotourism as well as adventure, agricultural tourism, community tourism, wellness tourism, and MICE tourism (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), he added.

The RoK has become one of the most significant tourism markets for Vietnam in general and Binh Thuan in particular. According to statistics, in the first two months of 2025, Binh Thuan welcomed over 116,000 international visitors, up 32% year-on-year, with the RoK ranking third in terms of arrivals.

To further attract tourists from the RoK, Minh stated that Binh Thuan will collaborate with localities and businesses to devise incentives and stimulus programmes for Korean travel companies bringing visitors to the province. Local authorities will also provide maximum support for Korean investors looking to develop tourism products tailored to Korean preferences, he continued.

On this occasion, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism signed a cooperation agreement with the representative office of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism in the RoK. Additionally, Binh Thuan’s Tourism Association and the RoK’s Hanatour company also signed a collaboration agreement to organise tours for Korean travellers to the locality in the near future.
