Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro line in Top 100 World's Greatest Places of 2025

VOV.VN - Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro line of Ho Chi Minh City has been listed among the world’s Top 100 greatest places in 2025, as compiled by TIME magazine of the United States.

The magazine shared that 12 years after construction first began, the first-ever metro line in Vietnam’s largest city opened in December.

“The arrival of mass rapid transit is an achievement for a megapolis famous for its motorbike-choked roads,” it said.

It revealed that the US$1.7 billion project was largely financed by loans from Japan, with the metro line spanning 19.7 kilometres and consists of 14 stations.

“It promises to ease congestion and pollution in the country’s commercial capital, where the population has almost doubled in the last two decades,” TIME revealed.

The US magazine stressed that visitors can easily reach popular tourist sites such as the Saigon Opera House, Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, and Bui Vien backpacker street.

Rounding off the Top 100 World's Greatest Places 2025 was the Stockholm Archipelago Trail of Stockholm, the Lowell Observatory of Arizona in the US, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, Niue Blue of Niue, the Pekoe Trail of Sri Lanka, Longwood Gardens of Pennsylvania, and Powder Mountain of Utah.
