The agreement was reached during the 15th meeting on the implementation of the 2015 agreement on the protection and exploitation of tourism resources at Ban Gioc-Detian Waterfalls scenic area between Vietnam and China, held on December 11.

The border landmark square will be built at the intersection of the two countries, where tourists can enjoy the magnificent beauty of the scenic area and engage in cultural and tourism activities. construction project’s documentation will be completed and submitted to the Vietnam-China Land Border Joint Committee by February 2026. Once approved, construction will begin soon and the project is expected to be completed in 2026.

Both sides also agreed to continue the information exchange mechanism, cooperate in developing a management framework for the shared scenic area, improve the quality of tourism services, and diversify tourist products to attract more visitors.

Ban Gioc Waterfall, located on the Quay Son River of Cao Bang Province, is not only one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Vietnam but also the largest natural waterfall in Southeast Asia and the fourth-largest border waterfall in the world. With a height of over 60 meters and the longest slope reaching up to 30 meters, Ban Gioc Waterfall creates a majestic and breathtaking landscape.

In addition to its natural beauty, Ban Gioc Waterfall is also intertwined with legendary love stories of the people in the mountainous region, which further enhances its allure.

So far, the scenic area has welcomed nearly 44,000 tourists, with more than 21,000 visitors recorded in 2025 alone.
