Aviation sector recovers firmly, targets 84 million passengers in 2025
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s aviation sector is on track for robust growth in 2025, with projections indicating it will serve around 84 million passengers and handle 1.4 million tonnes of cargo, up 11% and 18% respectively year on year, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).
Data from the CAAV shows that in the first 11 months of 2025, the sector handled more than 69 million passengers, an increase of nearly 11% year on year. International travellers accounted for 38 million, up 13%, while domestic passengers reached 31 million, an annual rise of 7%.
Cargo transport also recorded strong performance, with more than 1 million tonnes handled between January and November, an 18% increase compared to the same period last year.
The CAAV attributed the sector’s solid recovery to rising travel demand and strengthened cooperation in international aviation operations. The authority said these factors have significantly contributed to the positive performance of Vietnam’s aviation market in 2025.
Looking ahead, the CAAV plans to help airlines optimise fleet deployment and expand flight capacity to meet surging year-end travel demand and preparations for the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday. It will also coordinate airport slot allocations, work with foreign aviation regulators to open new international routes, and enhance market research and forecasting to support future policy development.
