10 hoteliers receive Green Hotel Awards

VOV.VN -At a ceremony held in Hanoi, 10 hoteliers from Vietnam were presented ASEAN Green Hotel Awards.

The awards were presented by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), and witnessed by some 250 attendees. The hotels received the award for their efforts to be environmentally-friendly and adopt energy conservation measures.

“With the growth of the tourism industry around the globe, the ASEAN Green Hotel Standards were introduced to promote responsible tourism,” said a VNAT representative in his welcoming speech at the ceremony.

He said the ASEAN Green Hotel Awards are given in recognition and appreciation for those who adhere to the high standards of conduct and practice of operating in an environmentally friendly green establishment.

This is the first year VNAT has presented the awards and it is valid for a period of three years. In other words, these hotels can use the designation in their advertising and for other valid purposes for the next three years, he said.

At the event, three homestay establishments were also presented an ASEAN Homestay Award for their creation of a quality visitor experience in compliance with ASEAN standards.

The 10 hotels were the Rex Hotel, Chains Caravelle, Cuu Long-Majestic Hotel, Dong Khoi-Grand Hotel, Intercontinental Hanoi Westlake, Six Senses Ninh Vân Bay, Sheraton Saigon, Equatorial, Sunrise Nha Trang, and Hoang Anh - Dat Xanh Dalat Resort.

The three homestay establishments were the An Bang Seaside Village Homestay, Bac Ha Homestay, and the Lac village in Lai Chau District.
