Vietnam, Japan meet for trade talks in Hanoi
(VOV) - Vietnam and Japan held high level trade talks on August 12 in Hanoi to bolster cooperation in the agri-forestry and aquatics sector, Vietnam’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) Cao Duc Phat said at a press conference.
“Currently, Vietnam has opened its markets to Japan’s beef, pork and poultry products,” said Minister Phat, and in exchange we are discussing the proposition that Japan open its doors wide to mangoes, dragon fruits and lychees.

At the same time, he requested more support from the Vietnam government in streamlining the government bureaucracy and cumbersome policies and procedures Japanese agriculture investors are encountering, Phat stressed.
Most notably, the two sides agreed to promote the public-private partnership (PPP) model in agriculture, pay more attention to improving the value of agricultural products, specifically concentrating on improving post-harvest handling and production methods.
