RoK, Vietnam bolster trade and investment cooperation

(VOV) - On May 19, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh received National Assembly (NA) Speaker Chung Ui Hwa and Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) President Kim Young Mok.

Meeting with Speaker Chung Ui Hwa, Deputy PM Ninh asked for more Korean financial support to help further develop Vietnam’s social economic infrastructure and thanked the NA leader for his support to protect the livelihood of Vietnamese working in the Republic of Korea (RoK).

Ninh said Vietnam has intensified its management of workers in Korea to ensure their compliance with local regulations.

The two sides agreed on the future signing of a treaty on mutual legal assistance and to promote people-to-people exchanges. Speaker Hwa said the Korean legislative body will ratify the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea to enhance trade and investment ties.

Receiving KOICA President Kim Young Mok, Ninh pledged the effective use of official development assistance (ODA) and called for the expansion of the new rural village model supported by the Korean agency that has been piloted in Quang Tri and Lao Cai provinces.

Kim Young Mok also expressed his agency's interest in waste treatment projects in Vietnam that support green growth.

The same day, Deputy PM Ninh also hosted a reception for Korean Foundation Vice President Jeo Nam Jin.
