Petrovietnam signs Myanmar oil-rig agreement

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, whose international transaction name is Petrovietnam, or PVN for short, announced on August 22 that it has signed an agreement with Total E&P Myanmar Ltd to supply oil rigs.

A PVN representative, said in a statement at a press conference announcing the deal that the two companies have agreed to share risks and opportunities in oil and gas exploration as well as production in Myanmar.

The representative didn't provide further details on the agreement.

He said PVN signed the contract for Plot M5 and M6, off shore Myanmar effective as of Mid-October 2016. These blocks supply half of all gas consumed by Myanmar and about 15% of gas consumed by neighboring Thailand (approximately 8 billion cubic meters a year).
