Mexico seeks stronger trade links with Vietnam

(VOV) -Vietnamese ambassador to Mexico Le Linh Lan attended Mexico’s 22nd national congress on foreign trade over the last two days to promote investment and trade cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Lan met with the President of the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment & Technology (COMCE), the General Director of Mexico’s Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ProMexico) and many fruit exporting businesses.

COMCE and ProMexico said they will send two business delegations to Vietnam in November and February next year to survey investment and cooperation opportunities in the Southeast Asian nation.


The diplomat also used the occasion to introduce Mexican enterprises to Vietnam’s foreign investment policy, main export products and major trading companies.

According to the Vietnam Embassy’s Trade Office in Mexico, trade turnover between the two countries reached US$.32 billion for the first eight months of this year, up 51% annually.

During the period, Vietnam exported nearly US$1.07 billion worth of goods to Mexico, up 38 % year on year while importing goods valued at US$320.94 million from the partner, up 215% from last year's level of US$149 million.
