Joint forum promotes Vietnam, Malaysia bilateral trade

VOV.VN - To promote investment and trade relations between Vietnam and Malaysia, a major conference was held on December 8 in Hanoi as a platform for business people from the two countries to interact.

The conference sponsored by the Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) is expected to encourage bilateral trade, joint ventures, and investments between organizations of both countries.

Trade between the business communities of both countries has a lot of potential for growth – particularly in energy, mineral exploration, steel and iron production, chemicals and fertilizer, said Deputy Minister Do Thang Hai of the MOIT at the event.

The comparative advantages of Vietnam, said Mr Hai, lie in agriculture for produce such as rice, tea, coffee and pepper as well as farm raised fish and seafood.

Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Zamruni Khalid, in turn, emphasized the event is a huge opportunity for deeper collaboration among the business communities of both nations in the coming time.

The Malaysian government will continue to have formal agreements with the Vietnam government and we will strive in the near term to stimulate the number of business joint ventures in the private sector also, the Ambassador said.
