HCM City remittances remain robust in 2016
VOV.VN - The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) reports remittances to Ho Chi Minh City are expected to remain robust this year and likely will outpace last year’s record high receipts of US$5.5 billion.
Nguyen Hoang Minh, SBV deputy director of the HCMC Branch, said remittances are “an important source of foreign exchange, helping to stabilize the exchange rate between the US dollar and Vietnam dong.”
Minh attributed the increase to the peak remittance season – the Lunar New Year – falling in early February this year.
