First shipment of Vietnam lychee heads for US
(VOV) - HCM city-based Anh Duong Sao Co, Ltd on May 30 shipped by air the first batch of lychee to the US market, according to Hoang Trung, Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) Department of Plant Protection Deputy Director.
Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) staff have also been deployed to assist growers in Bac Giang and Hai Duong provinces to ensure compliance with US and the Good Agricultural Practice (VietGAP) standards, Trung said.
‘The US has set high quarantine requirements and the shipment is of great significance as it affirms Vietnam’s lychee industry can meet with the strict regulations.
The export of lychee has also given fresh impetus to changing farmers’ thoughts regarding production methods to improve product quality,' Mr Trung noted.
