Vietnam's re-election to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for the 2026-2028 term is a recognition from the international community of the country's new stature and strength, as well as its readiness to contribute more to addressing global issues, according to an official.

Vietnam’s re-election to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for the 2026–2028 term with the highest vote count in the Asia-Pacific group underscores global confidence in the country’s policies and its 80-year journey of independence and 40 years of reforms, particularly in ensuring human rights.

The 59th regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has concluded with the adoption of 26 resolutions and decisions – two of which were co-sponsored and co-drafted by Vietnam as part of a core group of nations.
