Vietnam is stepping up efforts to boost the export of Halal products to Türkiye as part of its broader strategy to tap into the rapidly expanding global Halal market, valued at over US$2.5 trillion.

Türkiye considers Vietnam an important partner in Asia, its President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told Vietnamese President Luong Cuong at their meeting on the afternoon of September 24 in New York (local time), held on the sidelines of the High-Level General Debate of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

A ceremony marking the 80th National Day of Vietnam (September 2) was held recently by the Vietnamese Embassy in Ankara, reflecting the growing friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Türkiye.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son made several recommendations for Vietnam – Türkiye ties to grow substantively while talking over the phone with Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan on March 3.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang attended the Antalya Diplomacy Forum and held bilateral activities in Türkiye on March 1-2.

The General Directorate of Imports (DGI) under Ministry of Trade of Turkey has issued a notice extending the application of self-defence tax on toothbrushes, including those from Vietnam, imported into the country from February 3, 2024, to February 2, 2027, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Trade Remedies Authority.

Both Vietnam and Türkiye pin high hope on Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit that it will create a new impetus for bilateral relations to grow more strongly and comprehensively, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Türkiye Do Son Hai.
