VOV.VN - A delegation from Vietnam’s Ministry of Health, led by Associate Professor Dr. Vu Manh Ha, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Health, attended the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA79) in Geneva from May 18-22.
Challenges remain in the prevention and control of tobacco harms as violations of the law on tobacco harm prevention and control still remains high, especially in the advertisement and promotion of tobacco products, said Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan.
Vietnam is striving to reduce the rate of tobacco use among males aged from 15 to less than 39% in the 2023 – 2025 period as set out in the freshly-approved National Strategy on Tobacco Harm Prevention and Control to 2030.
The Ministry of Health’s Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund and the Global Public Health Organisation (Vital Strategies) launched a communication campaign to promote the enforcement of the ban on smoking in indoor public places on August 10.
