A favourable visa policy and effective stimulus programmes have helped Vietnam’s total retail sales and consumer service revenue grow 9.1% in the first 11 months of 2025, with tourism leading the way as travel earnings jumped by 19.9%.

Increasing domestic demand for goods, services, and tourism, especially during major national holidays, and a surge in international tourist arrivals in Vietnam have substantially contributed to the trade and service sector's growth in September and the first nine months of this year, according to the National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance.

Vietnam is focusing on boosting domestic consumption and diversifying export markets to ensure sustainable growth in response to risks of high tariffs in major markets such as the US and Europe.

The total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in Hanoi reached VND150.1 trillion (approximately US$5.87 billion) in the first two months of 2025, marking an 11.8% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Hanoi Statistics Office.

The postal service revenue has experienced average growth of over 20% between 2019 and 2023, which has led to fierce competition on the market, raising concerns about the emergence of unhealthy competition.

The total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in February increased by 8.5% over the same period last year to VND509.7 trillion (US$20.63 billion), according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Total retail sales of consumer goods and services have increased 10.4% year on year to almost VND3.53 quadrillion (US$149 billion) in the first seven months of 2023, compared to a rise of 15.7% during the same period of 2022, reported the General Statistics Office (GSO).
