VOV.VN - Vietnam’s total import-export turnover in 2025 is expected to reach a record US$920 billion, propelling the country into the top 15 global trading economies and second in ASEAN, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Vietnam views international economic integration, particularly through free trade agreements (FTAs), as a key gateway to connect the country with the world and bring its economy closer to global standards, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said at the announcing ceremony of the 2024 FTA Index on April 8.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) is focusing on improving local capability in helping businesses take advantage of free trade agreements such as the UKVFTA and EVFTA by issuing an FTA Index by the end of 2023.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) on December 27 organized a conference to review the implementation of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) over the last two years.

Vietnam's export turnover reached more than US$280 billion in 2020, a 55-fold increase from the figure of US$5 billion in 1995 thanks to the effectiveness of free trade agreements (FTAs) it has signed with partners.
