Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang, who heads the Central Steering Committee for the 2026 Economic Census, has affirmed that initial results of the census will be announced on June 30, 2026, seven months earlier than originally scheduled.

Vietnam will release preliminary results of its 2026 Economic Census seven months earlier than originally planned after adjustments to the census timeline, according to senior statistics officials at a meeting in Hanoi on February 9.

The National Statistics Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Finance on January 7 launched the 2026 Economic Census across the country.

Vietnam will launch the 2026 Economic Census in January next year to develop a comprehensive overview of production and business activities across all economic sectors nationwide.

The number of enterprises and employees working in the non-State and FDI sectors increased rapidly, whereas that of the State sector fell markedly.

As of December 31, 2020, Vietnam counted 683,600 operational enterprises, up 35.3% from 2016, the 2021 economic census revealed.
