VOV.VN - The fight against smuggling, trade fraud, the production and sale of counterfeit and imitation goods, and intellectual property violations is a key, long-term, and ongoing task that must be carried out relentlessly and without exceptions, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien called for intensified market surveillance and stronger legal frameworks to combat the rising tide of counterfeit goods and online trade fraud while addressing at the 15th National Assembly’s 9th session on June 17.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just issued another official dispatch requesting continued efforts to intensify the peak crackdown campaign to combat and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringements on intellectual property rights.

Authorities launched legal proceedings on 36 cases involving 119 individuals for offenses such as smuggling, trade fraud, production and sale of counterfeit goods, and false advertising across 24 localities from May 15 to June 3.

Tackling counterfeit goods in the health sector requires determined and stringent action, with no exceptions or protected areas, said Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on May 24 signed an official dispatch, ordering a vigorous nationwide crackdown on smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property violations.

The National Steering Committee against Smuggling, Counterfeit Goods, and Trade Fraud (National Steering Committee 389) on April 10 issued a document calling for stringent enforcement against goods origin fraud.

The Vietnam Trade Office in the Netherlands has warned of online fraud cases, particularly related to petroleum products, amidst the high demand for this category of goods.

Vietnamese firms should use additional caution to avoid increasingly sophisticated scams in international trade, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) Hoang Minh Chien said.
