Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed Directive No. 11/CT-TTg, dated April 21, mandating a stepped-up rollout of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety across Vietnam.

Ten laws will come into effect from January 1, 2025, including the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety; the Law on Roads; the Capital Law; the Law on Public Investment; and the revised Law on Organisation of People's Courts.

The Government has issued a Decree detailing provisions for the enforcement of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, including conditions under which foreign motor vehicles and drivers may operate in Vietnam.

VOV.VN - The recently ended four-day National Day holiday running from August 31 to September 3 witnessed a total of 257 traffic accidents occur in localities nationwide, resulting in 124 deaths and 193 injuries, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee.

There were 12,321 traffic accidents, resulting in 5,255 deaths and 9,599 injuries nationwide in the first half this year, reported the National Traffic Safety Committee.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation to improve road traffic safety in Vietnam in the 2024 – 2026 period was signed between the Department of Roads of Vietnam (DRVN) under the Ministry of Transport and 3M Corporation of the US at a ceremony in Hanoi on January 30.

Vietnam is among 45 out of 193 UN member countries whose deaths in road accidents decreased by over 30% in the 2011-2020 period, said Khuat Viet Hung, Vice Chairman of the National Road Traffic Safety Committee.
