According to the World Economic Forum’s rankings, Vietnam's gender equality ranking has been falling since 2006, from 65th to 77th in 2018 and 87th in 2021.
A programme to implement the National Strategy on Gender Equality in the 2021–2030 period and the Vietnam Population Strategy by 2030 was launched by the Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labour on December 6.
Empowerment and equality for women in all fields are high priorities on the ASEAN agenda. However, in reality, there are still many challenges in narrowing the gender gap in the region and for each member country, said Ha Thi Nga, President of the Vietnam Women's Union.
