VOV.VN - Vietnam has built a record 500,000 tonnes of national food reserves in 2025, more than doubling previous stockpiling levels, as the country strengthens food security, market stabilisation and emergency response capacity, an official said on January 23.

VOV.VN - The average export price of Vietnamese rice rose to US$473 per tonne this year, the highest compared to those of other major rice exporting countries in Asia, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

VOV.VN - The price of Vietnamese rice for export and domestic use has witnessed a sudden rise in recent times amid several countries worldwide having huge demand for food reserves in the face of economic and political instability and climate change, according to industry insiders.

More than 130,175 tonnes of rice sourced from the national food reserve will be provided for 24 cities and provinces to aid people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a decision issued on August 20.

The General Department of State Reserves (GDSR) is set to complete this year’s purchasing of rice for national food reserves by August 15.
