The 80th anniversary of August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2) of Vietnam is not only a source of pride for the Vietnamese people, but also a moment of joy for neighbouring Laos.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong has contributed to raising the position of the CPV which is recognised by major powers as the political party to lead the nation’s socialist-oriented development, according to a Lao official. ​

Vanxay Tavinyan, Vice Chairman of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee’s Commission for Propaganda and Training, has emphasised the epochal significance of the 1954 Geneva Agreement on the Cessation of Hostilities in Vietnam, as well as the role of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) in the signing of the document.
