Professor Carl Thayer, a Vietnam specialist at the Australian Defence Force Academy, University of New South Wales, has said that Vietnam has undergone decisive transformations, building its role and position in the international arena.

Layton Pike, a member of the Australia-Vietnam Policy Institute (AVPI)'s advisory board, said Vietnam's economic growth in 2024 has far exceeded expectations on the back of export recovery and stable foreign direct investment.

Vietnam’s increasing middle-power status in the Asia-Pacific region has sparked interest on its successful foreign diplomacy, which is known as “bamboo diplomacy”, said Layton Pike, Co-founder of the Australia Vietnam Policy Institute (AVPI).
