Young Vietnamese boxers to compete at Asian championship in Thailand

VOV.VN - A team of Vietnamese boxers departed for Thailand on July 30 to take part in the Asian U19 and U22 Boxing Championships, set to run from July 31 to August 12.

The nine-member squad includes Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran, Vietnam’s leading medal hope, who claimed gold in the women’s 50kg category at the Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Sri Lanka this past May.

Another promising name is Ngo Ngoc Linh Chi, a silver medallist in the women’s 48kg at last year’s Asian tournament.

According to the coaching staff, Vietnam aims to secure at least one medal at the 12-day competition and hopes the event will provide valuable experience for athletes ahead of upcoming international tournaments.

The championships feature both men’s and women’s events in the U19 and U22 age groups, with matches held under Olympic-style boxing rules.
