Vietnamese boxers take four bronzes at Asian junior championship
VOV.VN - Vietnamese boxers have concluded their campaign at the ongoing 2025 Asian Boxing Championship for Juniors and Youth in Jordan with just four bronzes, ending their hope of winning a gold, after all remaining athletes were eliminated in the semi-finals.
The Vietnamese contingent saw Nguyen Trong Tien, Vo Lan Anh, Luu Thi Ngoc Ha, and Hua Nguyen Anh Thi reach the semifinal stage in their respective weight classes across the U15 and U17 age groups. Despite determined efforts, none managed to advance to the finals.
In one of the most anticipated bouts, Ngoc Ha put up a strong performance in the 43kg U15 girls’ division, but narrowly lost to Alimkhanova Raykhona of Uzbekistan, settling for bronze.
Elsewhere, her teammates Trong Tien, Lan Anh, and Anh Thi clinched three bronze medals in the boys and girls’ U15 and U17 categories.
Team leader Dam Cong Dien praised the fighters for their dedication and technical efforts, noting that reaching the semifinals itself was a commendable achievement for this young team.
The tournament, that is getting underway from April 17 to May 1, has brought together more than 400 young athletes from 18 countries and territories worldwide.
Vietnam has sent 14 boxers to compete in the tournament.
The national team will continue to take part in the Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships, due to be held in Sri Lanka from May 10 to 24.
